William A. "Barney" Barnett Jr.

December 1, 1944 — April 18, 2010

William A. Barney Barnett Jr., 65, of 459 Red Rose Drive Manheim, died peacefully on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Hospice of Lancaster County, Mount Joy.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of William A. Barnett of Pequea and the late Lydia Yuninger Barnett. Barney was the owner and operator of Keystone Auto Reconditioning Company in Manheim for over thirty-four years and continues to serve the central PA auto area. He served in the PA Army National Guard. Barney was the husband of Carol L. Hoke Barnett and they would have observed their 36th wedding anniversary in May of this year. He was a 1963 graduate of Penn Manor High School and attended Millersville University where he was a member of the SEB Fraternity. During his youth he was active in scouting and earned his Eagle Scout recognition. His memberships included: Manheim Masonic Lodge # 587, Manheim VFW Post 5956, the Manheim American Legion Post 419, Manheim Skull-Duggers Association, life member of the Manheim Sertoma Club, and a Trustee for the Germania Band Club of Manheim. Barney had a great passion for Manheim Central Football and devoted many hours serving as president of the Manheim Central High School Football Booster Club for 10 years and was a charter member of the Manheim Touchdown Club.

Surviving in addition to his wife and father are two sons: Christopher W. Barnett of Lancaster, Bradley T. Barnett of Manheim, a granddaughter, Ryley L. Barnett and a sister Patricia wife of Don Sourbeer of Pequea.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his memorial service from the Buch Funeral Home 21 Market Square Manheim on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10:00AM until the time of the service.
