Steven E. Bender

Steven E. “Steve” Bender, 76, formerly of Lancaster passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 14, 2025. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Warren H. and Betty (Leaman) Bender. He was the husband of the late Nelda M. (Forry) Bender who died in 2021. Steve retired from High Steel Structures after working there for 46 years. He was a member of West Green Tree Church of the Brethren where he regularly taught Sunday School. Steve proudly served in the United States Army, doing two tours in the Vietnam War. Steve loved spending time with his family and being around his grandchildren. 

Surviving are two sons: Duane husband of Ralna Bender of Lititz, and Dustin husband of Megan Bender of Oxford; six grandchildren: Stephaine, Garrett, Raelyn, Dinah, Penny, and Olivia; three siblings: Warren M. Bender, Sandra L. wife of Donald G. Kopp and Tracy L. wife of Allen J. Shissler; and nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Steve’s Funeral Service at West Green Tree Church of the Brethren, 740 Greentree Road, Elizabethtown on Monday, June 23, 2025 at 1:30 PM. There will be a viewing from 12:30 PM until the time of service. Interment in Mt. Pleasant BIC Cemetery, Mount Joy Township. Memorial donations may be made in Steve’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
