S. Lorraine Cassel

 S. Lorraine Cassel, 91, of Manheim, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Pleasant View Communities. Born in Ephrata, she was the daughter of the late Elam and Lizzie Dinger Gerhart. A homemaker, Lorraine was the loving wife of the late John F. Cassel who died in March of 2006 following 51 years of marriage. She was a 1950 graduate of Ephrata High School. Lorraine was a member of Calvary Church, Lancaster; and a former member of Farm Women # 27. She enjoyed creating needle point crafts, and especially spending time at Ocean City, NJ or Siesta Key, FL. Lorraine had a deep and abiding love for her family; and she cherished all the time she could spend with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. 

 Surviving are three daughters: Sherry L. Cassel of Lebanon, Debra S. wife of James W. Ream III, of Manheim, Mary Jo wife of Benjamin D. Kreider Sr. of Leola, three grandchildren: Christopher husband of Valerie Ream, Shawn husband of Rachel Ream, Ashley wife of Andrew McCormack, two step grandchildren: Benjamin Jr. husband of Yeiri Kreider, Joshua Kreider husband of Daniela Popescu, seven great grandchildren: Danielle, Brooke, Macie, John, Derek, Sadie, Brielle, and three step great grandchildren: Madeleine, Theodore, and Penelope. Preceding her in death is a great grandson, Cole Ream, three Brothers: Elmer, Monroe, Jake Gerhart, and three sisters: Mae Weiser, Annabelle Brenner, and Mary Petticoffer. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Lorraine’s funeral service in Hoffer Auditorium at Pleasant View Communities, 544 North Penryn Road, Manheim, on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 2:00 PM. There will be a viewing in Hoffer Auditorium on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Manheim Fairview Cemetery.
