Ruth E. Kready

Ruth E. Kready, 90, of Manheim, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 28, 2026 at Pleasant View Communities, Manheim. Born in New Danville, she was the daughter of the late Elias H. and Elizabeth Bomberger Groff. She was the loving wife of the late Martin M. Kready who died in 1998.

Ruth had the gift of hospitality and delighted in cooking and baking for others whenever she could. She was very active in the former Erisman Mennonite Church teaching and helping in various roles whenever there was a need. She and Marty loved to travel and enjoyed many trips together during their 42 years of marriage. She loved her family dearly and especially loved singing hymns with them.

Surviving are five children, Doris E. (Marlin) Martin of Manheim, Gerry L. (Melva Hoffer) Kready of Manheim, Joann L. (Robert) Herr of Strasburg, Linda M. (Keith) Hanna of Manheim and Jay K. (Jennifer Dumeyer) Kready of Manheim; 12 grandchildren: Jeremy (Michelle) Kready, Jessica (Kurt) Ebersole, Nicole (Dave) Hardy, Jennifer (Cordell) Yoder, Bradly (Steph) Herr, Jevin (Courtney) Kready, Tanya (Matthew) Rowland, Michael (Mary) Herr, Logan (Jensen) Kready, Bryce Kready, Alyssa Hanna, Elena Kready; 22 great grandchildren with one on the way; four siblings, Marvin Groff, Erma Leaman, Elias (Evie) Groff, Miriam Wenger and a sister-in-law, Marlene Groff. She was preceded in death by four siblings, Abram Groff, Ann Denlinger, David Groff and John Groff.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Ruth’s Memorial Service at Pleasant View Communities, Hoffer Auditorium, 544 North Penryn Road, Manheim on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at 4:00 PM. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 PM until the time of service. Interment will be private at Erisman Mennonite Cemetery, Manheim. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may send contributions in Ruth’s memory to Hospice for All Seasons, 280 South Hill Drive, Grantville, PA 17028.
