Richard V. Shirk

Richard V. Shirk, 79, of Mount Joy, died peacefully, Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Lancaster General Hospital.  He was the loving husband of Arlene M. (Burk) Shirk, and they celebrated 57 years of marriage this past November.  Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Vernon and Marion (Achey) Shirk.  Richard was a roofing and siding division manager at J.C. Snavely, Landisville.  He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.  Richard enjoyed gardening and traveling, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.

     Surviving in addition to his wife Arlene is a son Mark E. husband of Tina Shirk, Elizabethtown; a daughter Christine M. wife of Norman Yellets, Lancaster; two grandchildren Allana and Alexandria, two step-grandchildren Jersey and Brynn; two great-grandchildren Jaydan and Alaia; and a brother Stephen wife of Eleanor Shirk, East Petersburg.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Carol A. Bauer.

     Services for Richard will be private.
