Richard H. White

October 11, 1927 — April 15, 2010

Richard H.White, 82, of 174 North Grant Street Manheim died peacefully surrounded by his family at the Lancaster General Hospital on Thursday, April 15, 2010.

Born in Manheim, he was the son of the late William G. and Annie Heagy White.Richard retired from the Public Utility Commission Harrisburg where he worked for many years; previously he was employed for the Warner Lambert Company Lititz.Richard served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was the loving husband of Ruth Myers White and they observed their 62nd wedding anniversary in November of last year. Lovingly called "Pip" by his family he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren; family was always the most important part of his life. He was an avid hunter and fisherman; and a member of the Pioneer Hunting Club that had a cabin in Potter County. He was a passionate Manheim Central Baron Sports Fan and attended all sporting events throughout the year.

Surviving in addition to his wife are four sons: Ronald R. White of New Cumberland, Dennis L. White of Lititz, Steven G. White and Thomas E. husband of Dawn Buchter White all of Manheim, four daughters: Shirley A. wife of Wayne Bigham of Cleveland TN., Susan D. wife of Frank Kowalski, Donna E. wife of Kevin Stauffer, and Sharon E. companion of Douglas Weitzel all of Manheim, sixteen grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren. Preceding him in death are two brothers: John and Leroy White.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service from the Buch Funeral Home 21 Market Square Manheim on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Jeffrey C. Schell officiating. Interment is in Manheim Fairview Cemetery Penn Township. There will be a public viewing at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
