Randy D. Miller, 88, of Lititz, went home to be with his Lord and Savior surrounded by family, on Monday, September 16th, 2024. He was the husband of Delores A. “Dee” (Forbes) Miller who he loved and cherished for 46 years. He was the son of the late Elmer and Viola (Adams) Miller. Randy was born in 1936.
He grew up in Lititz with his parents and three siblings. At age 11, he rented a small shop on Main Street with the monthly rent of $1.00 a week and called it “Randy’s Handy Shoe Shine.” He also worked with the Lititz Street Department, Hess Cleaners and the local butcher shop. After the loss of his oldest son, Randy started “Miller & Son Salt & Water Conditioning”. Randy and his wife, Dee, worked together to build the business into the corporation it is today. After they both retired, they sold the business to his son, Larry. In Randy’s 88 incredible years, his accomplishments were many. Randy enjoyed collecting cars, toys, Lititz memorabilia and everything in between. He and Dee loved sharing their cabin and beautiful home with family, friends and even strangers–making memories and sharing God’s special blessings. Randy always said, “Be kind. Everyone we meet is fighting a battle.” Randy served in the Army National Guard from 1955-1962. He was a member and director of maintenance for the Lititz Historical Foundation and was a current member of Grace Church of Lititz.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Larry L. Miller (Phyllis) Leola, Kenneth R. Miller (Karen) Langhorne, Melinda A. Gehman (Alex) Marietta and Lora A. Hicks (stepdaughter) (Kevin) Lititz, his sister Sharyn Deater, Rothsville, fifteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jane (Pickel) Miller (mother of Larry, Ken and Melinda), his son Douglas D. Miller and two brothers Denton and Gilles Miller.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at 10:00 am preceded by a viewing at 9:00am. There will also be a viewing on Monday, September 23, 2024, 5:00-8:00 pm. All will be held at the Grace Church of Lititz, 501 W. Lincoln Ave., Lititz.
