Phyllis L. Hinerdeer

November 3, 1927 — June 12, 2026

Manheim

Phyllis L. Hinerdeer, 98, of Manheim, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Pleasant View Communities.

Born in Lancaster, Phyllis was the daughter of the late Elwood and Lorene Berntheizel Shenenberger. She shared 27 loving years of marriage with her husband, Donald E. Hinerdeer, who preceded her in death in May 2016. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Sydney H. Showers, who passed away in April 1982.

Phyllis lived a life defined by faith, service, hard work, and deep love for her family. She worked for many years as an executive secretary with the former Raymark Industries in Manheim and later continued her career as a secretary for Fenner Drives Corporation. Known for her dedication and warm personality, she built lasting friendships throughout her working years.

A faithful and active member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manheim, Phyllis found great joy in serving her church family. She sang in the choir for many years and generously volunteered her time with the Manheim Community Library. A proud graduate of Manheim High School's Class of 1945, she treasured her classmates and made it a point to attend every class reunion.

Phyllis found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She loved tending flower and vegetable gardens, sewing many of her own clothes, and caring for animals of all kinds. After retirement, she embraced opportunities to travel throughout the United States and Europe, creating cherished memories along the way.

Above all else, Phyllis was devoted to her family. She had a servant's heart, a kind and generous spirit, and a special gift for making those around her feel loved. Her children, grandchildren, and extended family were the center of her life, and she treasured every opportunity to gather with them. Her love, wisdom, and gentle presence will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Phyllis is survived by her son, Jeffrey L. Showers and his wife, Grace, of Elizabethtown; two stepdaughters, Kathy J. Martin of New Holland and Donna H. Givler and her husband, Douglas, of Landisville; three grandchildren, Derrick, Danielle, and Megan; seven step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and five step-great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her son, Jamieson R. Showers, and her brother, Richard “Dick” Shenenberger.

Phyllis leaves behind a legacy of faith, compassion, and unwavering love for her family—gifts that will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know her.
