Pauline E. "Polly" Spangler, 97, of Ephrata, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Fairmount Homes.
Born and raised in Ephrata, Polly was the daughter of the late William and Annie (Druckenbrod) Enck and the wife of the late Ray W. Spangler.
A 1946 graduate of Ephrata High School, Polly spent a number years serving the community as a secretary at Ephrata Community Hospital and the medical office of Paul Riffert, M.D. She also enjoyed working a seasonal job at Kline's Candies in Lexington. She loved being a homemaker and grandma.
Polly was a member of Hope United Methodist Church in Akron and found joy in giving back to others through her volunteer work with Meals on Wheels and other food programs in the Lititz area. She loved to cook, bake, and experiment with recipes, grow saffron and flowers, and do home improvement projects with her husband. She also enjoyed listening to him play the piano and would sing along from time to time. She cherished the company of the family Schnauzers, Grindel, Toby, and Abby.
Polly treasured her family time, their vacations to Ocean City, New Jersey, games of Scrabble and her extended familiy's holiday gatherings and picnics.
Polly is lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Andrea, wife of Earl Thompson, of Ephrata, and Amy L. Spangler of Lititz; her three grandchildren, Laura Wenrich, Alison Castaneda, and Alex Thompson; and her seven great-grandchildren. One of seven children, she was preceded in death by her six siblings.
Polly will be remembered for her kind heart, good humor, unwavering love for her family, and being a good neighbor. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and in the memories her family will forever cherish.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to celebrate Polly's life at a funeral service on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 7:00 PM at Buch Funeral Home, 216 South Broad Street, Lititz. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM until the time of the service. Private interment will take place in Brunnerville United Methodist Cemetery.
