Miriam Mohler Witmer, age 93, resident of Landis Homes for over 20 years passed away on July 31, 2024 after a decline of several years.
Miriam was born Sept 19, 1930, in Ephrata, PA to Martin and Barbara (Seigrist) Mohler. She attended Napierville Parochial Elementary School in Stevens, PA, and graduated from Cocalico High School in 1948.
She married H. Howard Witmer on May 9, 1953 at Ephrata Mennonite Church, and they were married 66 years before his passing July 2, 2019. Howard and Miriam opened their home to many individuals and families and hosted many international guests.
They taught ceramics in a home business, and later operated a kitchen gadget stand (Kitchen Korner) for 25 years at Roots Country Market, Manheim, PA.
Miriam served with Christian Social Ministries of Lancaster County for several years overseeing the clothing bank and providing fresh produce.
Her hobbies included hosting meals, quilting, knitting, reading, staying up on the news, and writing letters. She had a generous spirit, loved people, practiced hospitality, and spent much time in prayer.
She was a long-time active member of the Crossings Community Church (formerly Erisman Mennonite Church).
She was predeceased by her parents, husband, brother Carl (Electa) Mohler, sister Blanche (Nevin) Horst, and daughter-in-law Carol (Dave) Witmer. She is survived by twin sister Ruth (Carl) Rudy, brother James (Janet) Mohler and sister Barb (Jim) Gerber as well as daughter Arlene (Mahlon) Yoder of OH, and son Dave (Joy) Witmer of FL, five grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Celebration of Life service at Landis Homes, West Bethany Chapel, 1001 E. Oregon Road, Lititz, on September 28, 2024, at 10:00 AM. there will be a time of visitation with the family from 9:00 am until the time of the service.
