Mary Ann Rose

September 24, 1931 — June 9, 2025

Manheim

Mary Ann Rose was born on September 24, 1931 in Manheim. The third daughter of what was to become the Geib Girls version of a famous television sitcom, where an innocent comment about “nothing” by one of them would develop into an entirely humorous conversation worthy of a Seinfeld episode.

Originally dubbed as “Ma” by three grandchildren, Austin Chelsea and Grant, she became everyone’s favorite grandma to their many friends. She was funny, enthusiastic, and occasionally irreverent when expressing her opinions. A team and fan favorite…

Mary was a youthful presence well beyond her youth, and at the age of 64, ran the Baron Stiegel mile with her 4-year-old grandson, Grant, crossing the finish line well before the last runner.

“I had to keep up with Grant,” she later expressed with a big smile.

At one point when her Jack Russell, “Jack” escaped his leash, she entertained a crowd of family members surrounding a U-8 soccer field by running out onto the field during the middle of a game, chasing Jack, who was chasing the ball, shouting, “Jack, come her you little...(expletive)”

Know by many names; Ma, Mom, Mary Ann, Aunt Mary, she was a quilter, crocheter, pinochle player, gardener. She filled her life and ours with enthusiasm and homemade pies.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband “Charlie” and their daughter, Cheri Rose Hager, and now leaves behind her daughter, Debra Rose Keenan, son-in-law, Jamie Keenan and three adoring grandchildren, Austin Keenan, Grant Keenan and Chelsea Lyon, married to Joe Lyon, and as well as a brother, Bobby. She is also survived by her nieces, Paulette Miller, Ann Zwicky, Karen Muckel, Kelly Lyons, Heather Royer, Jackie Groff and her nephews, Gary Royer, Terry Connelly, Mike Geib, Bill Rose, and their respective spouses and children. As well as her favorite and only great grandson, Declan Keean.

A celebration of life will be held at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 2:00 PM. Visitation from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please think of your fondest, funniest memory of Mary and wish her well on her next journey.
