Marlin E. “Skip” Becker, Jr., 86, of Manheim, died peacefully, Thursday November 30, 2023 as a result of an auto accident.  Skip was the husband of the late Patricia A. Zong Becker who died in 2017.  Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the Marlin E. Sr. and Martha (Braungard) Becker.  Skip retired as a Tool & Die maker for ALCOA of Lancaster. Skip proudly served with the U.S. Navy, and was a Past Commander of VFW Cyrus R. Peters Post #5956, Manheim.  Then in his earlier years Skip was a coach for midget football B-squad for over 19 years, and did a lot of volunteer work with the Manheim Fire Department.  Skip’s father Marlin Sr. received a Service to Mankind award in 1970, and Skip received the same award in 1980, and that spurred him on to join the Manheim Sertoma Club, and was a District governor for East Central Penn District.  He spent a lot of time at “Camp Medicare” hunting cabin where he enjoyed hunting and fishing.  Skip also enjoyed spending time at Middle Creek Wildlife Area, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Surviving are two daughters, Jena Herdwig (John), East Petersburg, Jennifer Becker, Lancaster; two sons, David Becker (Anna), Manheim, James Becker, Lancaster; 6 grandchildren Anthony, Jacob, Colleenia, Joseph, Rhiannon, & Andrew; 7 great-grandchildren Neka, Kylee, Allison, Lucas, Brooklyn, Warren, & Adalynn; and a sister Joanne Zug, Lancaster.  In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a son Marlin E. Becker III, and a brother Larry Becker.
