Marjorie Cope de Camara of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025.

Born on May 15, 1940, in Greensburg, Marge was the daughter of Samuel “Sam” Priddey, a department store manager who later produced toy catalogs, and Geraldine “Gerry” Priddey, a nurse. She grew up in Drexel Hill, just outside of Philadelphia, with her brother, Samuel “Brian” Priddey.

Marge, as she was affectionately known, graduated from Upper Darby High School and went on to earn a degree in Christian Education from Grove City College in 1963. During her college years, she met her love, Robert “Bob” de Camara, and the two were married on September 1, 1962, at Northminster Presbyterian Church in Drexel Hill. After graduation, she joined Bob at Fort Benning, Georgia, where he was serving in the U.S. Army and she worked in social services. Their first “child” together was a young Golden Retriever rescue named Camelot.

Following Bob’s military service, the couple moved to Maryland’s Eastern Shore, where Bob worked as a newspaper editor and their first child, David, was born. They settled in Lancaster, when Bob accepted a position with Armstrong. There, Marjorie and Bob built their first home and welcomed two more children, Stephanie and Karen.

As her children grew, Marge continued her career, first serving as a Christian Education Director at local churches before becoming a licensed Nursing Home Administrator. Her compassion for others, both personally and professionally, was evident in all she did.

Marge truly hit the trifecta of life—she was a devoted wife, loving mother, and accomplished professional. She was the heart of every family gathering, and her children fondly remember the chaos that ensued. A talented cook—of the kind health experts now warn against but everyone adored—her kitchen was a place of joy and indulgence. Creative by nature, she had a knack for transforming ordinary items into beautiful décor and inviting spaces.

Her greatest joy was her family. Marge’s enduring legacy lives on through her children and their spouse and seven beloved grandchildren; Erin, Kirsten, Conor, Maureen, Christopher, Quentin and Amelia. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Bob.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Her family finds comfort in knowing that she left this world having fulfilled her greatest purpose—to love deeply, give selflessly, and inspire others to do the same.
