Marguerite (Maggie) O’Connell Davis died March 31, 2025, at Homestead Village, Lancaster, PA. Maggie was born May 21, 1932, in Winnsboro, S.C., to parents William and Sally (Hoy) O’Connell. Maggie was the youngest of two, with sister Isabel older by 3 years.

After completing high school, Maggie began work in the typing pool at a military base near Columbia, S.C. Maggie traveled the world with her Navy first husband and always worked at military units. She received many citations and accolades for her work through the years. Before retiring from Government service, she last worked for the National Institutes of Health.

Maggie married the love of her life, Paul R. Davis Jr., on February 26, 1993. Married for 22 years, they were active in walking, hiking, and biking various trails and they maintained a Lock on the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal while living in Maryland. Maggie went on many trips with family, including to Key West and Connecticut; she loved Myrtle Beach. Maggie and Paul’s international travel included Ireland and Portugal. Maggie also shared her heart for many years with her cat, Hemingway.

Maggie is preceded in death by her husband (2015), parents, sister, and stepson Paul (Zim) Davis. Maggie leaves behind nephew Howard Graham and wife Cindie, niece Theresa Stafford, and stepson Jeff Davis. Maggie also leaves behind 6 step-grandchildren: Dustin Phillips; Seth, Jeb, and Shelby Davis; Shane and Jordan Davis; as well as 8 step great-grandchildren.
