Luke E. Fahnestock, 97, of Manheim, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at UPMC Lititz. Born in Manheim, he was the son of the late, Clarence D. and Grace E. Rudy Fahnestock. Luke was the loving husband of late Doris L. Diehm Fahnestock who died in October of 2017 following 65 years of marriage. Luke was the owner and operator of the family farm in Rapho Township. He was a 1946 graduate of Manheim High School. Luke retired after working 40 years at the U.S. Postal Service with the Manheim Office. He was a member of the National Rural Carrier Association, and Ruhl’s United Methodist Church, Manheim. He loved working on the family farm, and spending time with his family at their cabin in Potter County. He and Doris also enjoyed spending the winters in Sarasota, FL for 20 years.

Surviving is a daughter Gail E. wife of Brian Huber, a son, Gary D. husband of Sharon Fahnestock all of Manheim, four grandchildren: Matthew husband of Leann Huber, Ryan Huber and girlfriend, Shane, John McBride, Kayla Roman, three great grandchildren, Madison, Wyatt, and Ryleigh. Preceding him in death is a son, David Scott Fahnestock, brother, Clarence “Cy” Fahnestock and sister-in-law, Kay Fahnestock.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Ruhl’s United Methodist Church Sunshine Class, Pastor Blaine Wenger, and Wayne Achey for their visits and acts of kindness and support for Luke.

Services for Luke will be private, and at the convenience of the family.
