Lester E. Landis, Jr.

Lester E. “Les” Landis, Jr., 72, of Lititz, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, due to a recent diagnosis of acute leukemia. He was the beloved husband of Judith M. (Zimmerman) Landis, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Lester E. and Elizabeth (Houser) Landis.

Les was a graduate of Manheim Township High School, class of 1971. After farming for many years, Les went on to own and operate Landis Ag Service, providing transportation service to Lancaster and surrounding counties.

To those that knew Les, he was a man who did not sit still and was always on the move. In his spare time, Les was an active participant in antique tractor pulling, a member of Oliver collector clubs, and a life member of Rough & Tumble Engineers Historical Association. He was a member of Landis Valley Christian Fellowship and was recently attending Erb Mennonite Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Julie (James, Jr.) Hostetter, of Holtwood, Lori (Kenneth) Leed, of Lititz, and Kari (Michael) Hess, of Manheim, nine grandchildren, a brother, David Landis, of Lititz, and sisters, Marian (Ken) Landis Funk, of Leola, Lois (Jay) Miller, of Milton, and Betty (Robert) Peiffer, of Cochranville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Lester Landis.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, May 19, at Landis Valley Christian Fellowship, 2420 Kissel Hill Road, Lancaster, PA 17601, with Pastors Lou Wagner and George Hurst officiating. Viewings will be held at the church on Monday, May 18, from 5 PM – 8 PM and again on Tuesday, May 19, from 9 AM – 10 AM. Interment will follow the service in Landis Valley Mennonite Cemetery.
