L. Lavern Rutt

L. Lavern Rutt, 84, of Mount Joy, passed away on August 12, 2026 at Lincoln Christian Home, Ephrata. Born in Ephrata, he was the son of the late Jacob N. and Lizzie Groff Rutt. He was the loving husband of Ruth M. Newswanger Rutt for 64 years. Lavern was a dairy farmer and then did general hauling for many years. His hobby was restoring John Deere 2-cylinder tractors. He was a member of Clearview Mennonite Church, Manheim.

Surviving in addition to his wife are five children, Linda (Glenn) Zimmerman of Lititz, Susan (Jason) Sensenig of Mount Joy, Harold (Denzal Burkholder) Rutt of Manheim, Kevin Rutt of Port Royal and Gary (Krystal Musser) Rutt of Mount Joy; 19 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and siblings, Mary Lou (late Lloyd) Nolt, Raymond (Marilyn) Rutt, Anna Frances (Dale) Nissley and Curvin (Arlene) Rutt. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Mervin, John Jacob, Elmer and Clarence, a granddaughter and 3 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at Clearview Mennonite Church, 90 North Esbenshade Road, Manheim on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at 9:30 AM. There will be a viewing at Clearview Mennonite Church on Monday from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. Please omit flowers.
