Joel C. Sides

Joel C. Sides, 79, of Manheim, died on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at Penn State Medical Center, Lancaster. He was the husband of Alice (Heiselman) Sides. Born on April 13, 1946 in Lancaster, he was the son of the late A. Lincoln and Virginia (Reider) Sides.

Joel was a machinist FL Smidth for 44 years, he also worked for Longenecker Hardware for 18 years.

He was a life-long member of Trinity Evangelical Congregational church, Manheim, where he was a lay delegate for many years and was the official Board President for 25 years. Joel enjoyed collecting confederate Civil War memorabilia and mugs. Joel was a 1964 graduate of Manheim Central High School.

In addition to his wife, Joel is survived by a daughter Jessica J. Sides and her wife Brittany N. of Lancaster, one grandson Nickolaus Smith, and a brother Alan L. Sides and his wife Janet of Manheim.  He was preceded in death by two sisters, Amy L. Ober, Lori Sides and a brother Kerry L. Sides.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 30, 2024 at 10:00 am at Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, 48 Market Square, Manheim. A private burial will be in Hernley Mennonite Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church.
