Joan H. Siegrist

Joan H. Siegrist, 88, of Lancaster, and formerly of East Petersburg, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, died peacefully on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Tandem Living, Lancaster. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Glenn H. Horst and Helen Pretzman Woody Sheck. Joan was the loving wife of the late Jay M. Siegrist who died 2021 following 65 years of marriage. She was a 1955 graduate of Hempfield High School. A life-long member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, East Petersburg; Joan served as Co-Chair of the music and worship committee, served on the library board, taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and was Zion’s Secretary for 20 years. She served as president of the East Petersburg Woman’s Club in 1974 through 1976. She enjoyed reading, playing cards and golfing with her friends. She had a servant’s heart, looking to help where ever the need was in her church or community. Joan loved her family deeply, and felt blessed to be surrounded by her husband, children, grandchildren whom she cherished and adored.

Surviving are two sons: Michael S. Siegrist of Charleston, SC., Douglas husband of Lorraine Siegrist of Dallas, three grandchildren: Lindsey Petritsch, Laura Siegrist, Eric Azarwicz, two great grandchildren: Miles and Maya Sabalesky, a brother, Richard husband of Gwen Horst of Mount Joy, and a sister, Wendy wife of Robin Herr of Gulf Breeze, FL.

Services for Joan will be private and at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Garden, East Petersburg. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Joan’s memory to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1905 Broad Street, East Petersburg, PA 17520.
