Jeffrey A. Okamoto, MD

Jeffrey A. Okamoto, MD, 71, of Lebanon, went to be with the Lord he loved on Saturday, February 7, 2026. His dedicated medical team at WellSpan York Hospital as well as his family and dear friends, continued to nurture and care for him during many weeks and through his final hours. He was the son of the late Allen and Yone Okamoto. He was the loving husband of Christina Neff Okamoto, with whom he had celebrated forty years of marriage.

Jeff was born in Abington, on July 18, 1954. He graduated from Upper Dublin High School and Ursinus College. He continued his training at Penn State University Medical School at Hershey and in the Psychiatric Residency program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Jeff spent the majority of his professional years as a psychiatrist working for Philhaven Hospital. He had an interlude of several years as Medical Director of the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit at the Lebanon VA Hospital. His final clinical work was with the Lebanon and Lancaster ACT program.

Jeff delighted in the wonders of the natural world and brought beauty into his home, offices and church. His carefully crafted Christmas and Easter decorations were an invitation to joyful worship. He loved celebrations around the table, nurturing those in his company with food and the warm fellowship of engaging conversation, laced with laughter. Summers were highlighted by his well-planned and much-anticipated family vacations.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are a son, Stephen Okamoto, two grandsons, Mason and Orion Okamoto and three siblings, Barbara, Wayne and wife Ollie and Joan Okamoto.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Service of Love and Remembrance at Gingrichs Mennonite Church, 100 Forney Road, Lebanon on March 7, 2026 at 3:00 PM. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 2:00 PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Gingrichs Mennonite Church or Hershey Christian Academy.
