Jeannine Caroline (Peck) May, 74, of Manheim, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at Penn State Hershey Medical Center with family by her side. Born in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late Jack Donald Peck, Sr. and Jeannine Caroline (Howe) Peck. She was the loving wife of 26 years to the late David Eugene May of Manheim.
Jeannine attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she earned her BS in psychology, which served her well during her 30+ years as a revenue agent with the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue where her understanding of people helped her navigate difficult conversations with compassion and professionalism. She looked forward to retirement, but her greatest joy was looking forward to having grandchildren who were still just wishes and dreams and spending her retirement years with them.
She has been active with AFSCME union serving as treasurer for the last several years for the retiree group based in Lancaster. Jeannine began her tenure on the Manheim Library board on July 2014 and served as the Executive Board Secretary from January 2016 until 2023. She was a member of Ruhl’s United Methodist Church, Manheim, and enjoyed hosting bible study at her home. She volunteered her time for many worthy causes including the Literacy Council, teaching others to read. Jeannine had a big heart and made friends everywhere she went, whether it was the dentist’s office, the diner, or the nail salon.
She was her children’s biggest supporter, attending all of their sporting events and never missing a game. She was an attentive listener and always had just the right words. Jeannine willingly helped neighbors and strangers with anything they needed. She also made the best food, always ready to share it with friends and family. Jeannine loved spending time cooking, baking, sewing, quilting, hosting holidays at her home, vacationing at the beach and the Adirondacks, participating in friendly and sometimes spirited debates, and enjoying outings with her friends and family. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, crafting with them and taking her grandson fishing. Her kind soul and sweet welcoming smile lit up a room and made a difference to all who met her. Her genuine and loving presence in this world has impacted countless lives and will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her stepson, David Eugene Moyer, husband to Colleen Melinda (Berger) Moyer. Surviving is a son, Gregory Peck May, husband of Betsy Kay (Lubert) May of Mount Joy, a daughter, Christina Suzanne (May), wife of William (Garrett) Mann of Palmyra, five grandchildren; Danielle Ashley Moyer, David Dominic Moyer, Meadow Alexandra May, William (Colin) Mann and Maura Ellen Mann, two sisters, Jane Catherine (Peck) Zellers, wife of M.
