Jean L. Shelly, 94, of Manheim, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at United Zion Retirement Community, Lititz. Born in Mount Joy, she was the daughter of the late R. Franklin and Janet C. Chalfant Stirling. She was the wife of the late Earl K. Shelly who died in 2012 and her first husband the late Edward C. Shelly who died in 1975. Jean was a member of the former First Presbyterian Church, Mount Joy where she taught Sunday School, was a deacon, an elder, and volunteered in the thrift shop. She was a long-time presence at Shelly’s Nursery and volunteered for the Manheim Ambulance for 40 years. She enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, bird watching, walking and helping people. Jean especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Surviving is a son, Gary husband of Susan Shelly of Manheim, a daughter, Patricia wife of Phares “Bill” Haldeman of Elizabethtown, four stepdaughters; Rebecca Snader of Manheim, Mary Ann Fisher of Landisville, Debra Hammond, Susan Bevil, both of Ephrata, 14 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and a sister, Beth Runk of Mechanicsburg. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Stirling, and her twin sister, Janet Stirling.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Jean’s Memorial Service at Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Friday, September 27, 2024 at 3:00 PM. There will be a time of visitation from 2:00 PM until the time of service. Private interment in Henry Eberly Cemetery, Mount Joy.
