Jean M. Wright Rutter, 91, of Lititz, died peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Luther Acres, where she had been a resident for over 26 years. Jean was blessed to spend her time at Luther Acres, where she made lifelong friends and enjoyed wonderful care from staff and many activities throughout the years. She was the wife of the late Donald P. Rutter, who died in June 2019 following 62 years of marriage.

Jean was the Treasurer/Manager of Penlanco Federal Credit Union at PPL Utilities for 20 years, retiring in 1996. Earlier in her career, she was employed as a bookkeeper at Lancaster Newspapers Inc.

Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Frank W. Wright and Carrie E. Houck Wright Beyers. Jean was a member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neffsville, and a 1952 graduate of J. P. McCaskey High School. She was also a former active member of the American Business Women’s Association for 28 years.

Surviving are two sons: Scott D. (Esther) Rutter of Surfside Beach, SC, and Steven M. (Elaine) Rutter of Elizabethtown; three grandchildren: Hope A. (Timothy) Hurley of Spring City, Shane C. Rutter of Macungie, and Alexandra L. Rutter of Strasburg; two great-grandchildren, Bryn and Brody Hurley; four step-grandchildren; and two brothers: Edgar M. (Phyllis) Wright of Lititz and Ronald S. (Susan) Wright of Cranford, NJ. Preceding her in death are three siblings: Virginia, Michael, and Jon Wright.

Services for Jean will be private and at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Salem Hellers Church Cemetery, Leola. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jean’s memory to the Luthercare Caring Fund, 600 East Main Street, Lititz, PA 17543.
