Janet Savage, 98, of Brethren Village, Lititz, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 5, 2025. Born in Cairnbrook, PA she was the daughter of the late Guy and Marie (Zimmerman) Gearhart. She was the loving wife of Allan T. Savage who passed in 2009.
For over 50 years she was an active member of the Lititz Church of the Brethren and the Rose of Sharon Sunday School class, she was involved with teaching Sunday school, bible school, sang in the choir and deacon ministry. Janet graduated from Shade Township High School was a graduate of Bob Jones University earning a Bachelor’s degree, earned her Master’s from Penn State University, taught at Warwick High School and Millersville University. She had a long career in education, retiring in 1989 from Conestoga Valley School District. Janet enjoyed gardening, reading, seasonal decorating, music, cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers, day trips with her husband, spending time with family and friends, crossword puzzles, cryptograms and especially the puzzle pages from the Lancaster newspaper.
She is survived by her beloved step-daughter, Tracey Savage (Tracy Brumbach), her sister, Thelma Thomas, Middletown and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Pauline Gearhart, Ruth Sady, Helen Goga and a brother, Roy Gearhart.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Janet’s Celebration of Life Service at the Lititz Church of the Brethren, 300 West Orange Street, Lititz on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 11:00 AM. Friends may visit with the family immediately following the service. Interment is private at Brunnerville United Methodist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if desired, contributions may be made in Janet’s memory to the Lititz Church of the Brethren Mission Outreach Endowment Fund, 300 West Orange Street, Lititz PA 17543.
