Celebrating the Life of James "Jim" Brennan, Knockcroghery, Co. Roscommon, Ireland, Hauppauge, NY, and Lititz, PA.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James "Jim" Brennan, 87, of Lititz, Pennsylvania, a proud son of Knockcrockery, Co Roscommon, Ireland, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 after a long illness.

Born in the gentle fields of Roscommon, Jim often declared he had come “straight off the bog” a phrase that captured both his deep roots and his enduring Irish wit. In 1958, Jim made the bold decision to emigrate from Knockcroghery to New York City, seeking new opportunities while carrying the spirit of Ireland with him.

Jim spent four proud years serving in the Air Force, where he acquired the technical expertise that would shape his career as a skilled mechanic, his love of history, and aviation. His love for his adopted country and his sense of duty and discipline, forged in service, stayed with him throughout his life.

Jim was predeceased by his cherished wife Kathleen and his four siblings. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia, his daughters Ann and Lisa, Lisa’s husband David, and three grandchildren, Aurora, Erin, and Andrew, whom he adored. Alongside Patricia’s children is a son Duncan, his wife Sylvaine, and their two children: Benjamin and Thomas, a daughter, Louise, and her children, Tess and Jemma. All of the family were held dear in Jim’s heart.

Jim’s curiosity and joy for the world were evident in his deep love of nature, adventure, and animals. He found peace outdoors, tending carefully to his gardens and many bird feeders, photographing the birds that visited daily, and spending hours fishing or simply enjoying a glass of lemonade outside. An adventurer at heart, Jim cycled all the way to Montauk and learned to ski later in life, frequenting slopes throughout the east coast. His compassion extended to all living creatures; including many beloved pet cats and never hesitated to stop and help an injured animal in need.

Jim’s warmth, humor, and unwavering loyalty will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind stories of resilience, laughter, and love.

As we gather to remember Jim, we honor the remarkable journey of a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and left an indelible mark on all those whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace, his spirit forever soaring with the birds he so admired.

A service to celebrate Jim’s Life will be held at a later date on Long Island, New York.
