J. Kenneth Brubaker

Oct 31, 1943 — Oct 28, 2026

Mount Joy

Dr. J. Kenneth Brubaker, 82, of Mount Joy, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, while under the care of Masonic Village Hospice. He was the loving husband of the late Pamela Kay (Heiser) Brubaker, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage at the time of her passing in 2024.

Born in Mount Joy, he was the son of the late Paul N. and Verna M. (Miller) Brubaker.

Ken was a graduate of Donegal High School, class of 1961. Following high school, he earned a bachelor’s degree from Goshen College in 1965, attended Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary for one year, graduated from Hahnemann University Medical School in 1970, and completed his residency in 1973. In 1973 Ken co-founded the Norlanco Family Health Center in Elizabethtown and he later co-founded Geriatric Associates of Lancaster. Most recently, he served as corporate medical director for Masonic Homes of PA and medical doctor for the Masonic Village Hospice Program, retiring in 2021. Among other career ventures, he also served as the Chief Medical Director for the Pennsylvania Department of Aging and served in prominent roles for Landis Homes Retirement Community, PALTmed (formerly known as AMDA), and the Lancaster General Health Foundation.

Ken was a life-long member of Mount Joy Mennonite Church. His faith in Jesus Christ was the most important part of his life, and he tried to live his life in the way that he believed Christ wanted him to. His commitment to Christ was demonstrated by the way Ken both loved and served his family and community. He was a friend to all and enjoyed making connections with everyone that he met.

In his spare time, Ken enjoyed maintaining his fruit trees and having a vast vegetable garden on the farm he grew up on. He enjoyed sports and made it a priority to attend his grandchildren’s sporting events. Ken also had a passion for genealogical research and took many trips centered on learning more about his heritage.

He is survived by a son, Brenton (Kathy) Brubaker, of Mount Joy, daughters, Melissa (Brett) Collins, of Marietta, and Kirsten (Adam) Fuhr, of Georgetown, TX, a brother, Harold (Geraldine) Brubaker, of Asheboro, NC, sisters, Marian Miller, of Marietta, Jane (Ken) Barge, of Lititz, and Sharon (Don) Hines, of Lancaster, and 11 grandchildren.

A Celebration of Ken’s life will take place at 11 o’clock on Friday, November 27, at Mount Joy Mennonite Church, 320 Musser Road, Mount Joy, PA 17552, with a time to visit with the family immediately following the service. Private interment will take place in Kraybill Mennonite Cemetery.
