Grant R. Hartenstine

Grant R. "Pappy" Hartenstine, 96, formerly of Lancaster, died peacefully at Landis Homes Retirement Community, Lititz, on Saturday, June 12, 2010.
Born near Manheim, he was the son of the late William and Lydia Mellinger Hartenstine. In 1981, Grant retired from H. R. Ewell Inc., East Earl, where he worked as a truck driver. He was the husband of the late Mabel I. Haldeman Hartenstine who died in January of 2004. Grant was a member of the Landis Homes Bethany Fellowship, Lititz. He enjoyed volunteering his time at the Landis Homes RetirementCommunity. Grants interests included: oil painting, jigsaw puzzles, gardening, and traveling.
Surviving are two sons: Grant R. Hartenstine Jr. of Dalhart, TX., Kenneth D. husband of Dianne Dodson Hartenstine of Manheim, two daughters: Arlene J. wife of David Anderson of Stewartstown, Patrecia A. Hartenstine of Lancaster, ten grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Preceding him in death is a daughter, Dorothy Hartenstine, five brothers: William, Charles, Clyde, Eugene, Harry, and three sisters: Lydia, Thelma, and Florence.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the Landis Homes Retirement Community WEST BETHANY CHAPEL (1001 East Oregon Road Lititz) on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Donald W. Good officiating. Interment is in Manheim Fairview Cemetery, Penn Township. There will be a public viewing onFriday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Landis Homes EAST BETHANY CHAPEL. There will be additional viewing time on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at the West Bethany Chapel.
