Glen Mark Sell

December 28, 1933 — November 22, 2025

Lititz

Glen Mark Sell, 91, a resident of Landis Homes, Lititz, passed peacefully into the presence of his Savior on November 22, at home. Born on December 28, 1933, in Doylestown, to Menno and Clara (Histand) Sell, Glen was the loving and faithful husband of Ethel (Leaman) whom he loved at first sight. They were married 68 years ago on April 22, 1957.

Glen spent a lifetime committed to Jesus and Christian ministry. He was ordained to ministry at the age of 21 and preached until he was 88. Glen gave pastoral leadership to ten churches in PA and MD, and was an active evangelist (Gateway Evangelistic Ministries) throughout the USA, Canada, Wales and Haiti. He also wrote the Heart to Home Newspaper column, and was a radio speaker for Heralds of Hope and Moments of Glad Tidings. Additionally Glen was a counselor, and a Bible teacher at Lancaster Mennonite School and Rosedale Bible Institute, OH.

Glen graduated from Ellicot City High School, MD, earned an LPN degree while working at Rosewood State Training School and graduated from Eastern Mennonite University with a BS and a Masters degree in Christian Education.

Other work experience while he served as a bi-vocational pastor included Director of Tel Hai summer camp, counselor at Philhaven, substitute mailman, house construction, salesman, and retirement home administrator. In retirement years Glen and Ethel ran a stand at Roots Market, selling International crafts and Choice Books. Glen also volunteered for Choice Books warehouse.

Glen lived life to the full and with joy. He knew the Bible from end to end; he enjoyed singing hymns, engaging with people, fishing, gardening, reading, traveling, and playing games like scrabble and shuffleboard. He loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He was an excellent handyman and story-teller, and was often asked to tell his life story. He collected over 100 canes that held meaning for him. Glen had a soft heart, easily laughed or shed tears, and he was quick to show delight.

Glen was committed to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to seeing lives transformed by a relationship with Jesus. Galatians 2:20 was his life motto. “It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me…” Glen lived what he preached; a life of integrity, modelling his life after Jesus.

Glen was an active member of East Petersburg Mennonite Church.

Glen will be deeply missed by his wife, Ethel, and children, Cynthia (Robert) Redcay of Mount Joy, Cheryl (Joseph) Hollinger of Lancaster, Leon (Diane Reel) of Coatesville, and Duane (Shari Ropalato) of Irvine, CA; grandchildren Christopher (Kari Martin) Hollinger of NC, Wendy (Daniel) Waldron of MA, Jordan (Jennifer Shenk) Hollinger of MA, Alex Redcay of Phila, Jacob Hollinger of CA, Trent Sell and Shaina Sell of Coatesville, Taylor Sell and Cameron Sell of CA, and two great granddaughters, Lydia and Evangelina Waldron.

Glen’s surviving siblings include Lois Sell of VA and Mary (Tom) Bourne of VA, sisters-in-law, Catherine Sell and Sharon Sell. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Harlan, Ivan, Eleanor and Donald.

Glen has donated his body to the Humanity Gifts Registry of PA.
