Geraldine C. "Gerri" Messman

Geraldine “Gerri” C. Elliott Messman, 86, of Manheim, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2026 in The Villages, FL. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Myrtle Elliott and was preceded by her three sisters, Dorothy Hamilton, Betty Litzinger, and Mary DiMauro.

She went to Havre De Grace High School and worked in accounting for Woodstream and later Wilbur Chocolate. For 21 years, she was a member of Salem United Methodist, where her faith and connection to her church community were an important part of her life.

Gerri had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, camping, and some hunting. She also had a special fondness for playing bingo and the fun and friendships that came with it. She loved talking on the phone with her friends and family and these conversations were a treasured part of her everyday life.

Above all, Gerri will be remembered for her compassion and kind and generous spirit. She had a big heart and was always willing to help others. She never hesitated to be there for family and friends when they needed her. Family was incredibly important to her, and the love she gave to those around her will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Gerri was the beloved wife of James Messman, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage. She was a proud mother of seven children, Bruce (Vivian) Bowen, Deborah (Curt) Knaub, James (Deb) Beall Jr., Michelle Schell, Dana (Brian) Schuessler, Kevin “Scott” Beall, Tonya (Fred) Melchior. She also leaves behind ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren, extended family and many friends.

She leaves behind a lifetime of memories, love, and countless moments that her family and friends will cherish forever. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her and loving her.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026 with visitation starting at 10:30 AM and service to follow at 11:30 AM at Salem United Methodist Church, 140 N Penn St, Manheim, PA 17545.
