Gerald R. "Jerry" Brandt

    Gerald R. “Jerry” Brandt, 87, of Manheim, died peacefully on Friday, December 22, 2023 at WellSpan, Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Ray and Sara Knier Brandt. Jerry was the husband of Joyce E. Hoffer Brandt and they observed their 25^th wedding anniversary in July of 2023. Jerry served as a police officer for Penn Township for 27 years; he also served as a Pennsylvania Game Commission Officer and Deputy Game Protector. A veteran, Jerry served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Hempfield Sportsmen’s Association, the Fraternal Order of Police and was a Certified Firearms Instructor. Jerry had a passion for the out-doors; he enjoyed fishing in the Indian River Bay with his best friend Donald Ruth, and hunting with his brothers at the family cabin in Juniata County.

   Surviving in addition to his wife, Joyce, is a son, Timothy husband of Beth Brandt of Lancaster, a daughter, Cynthia Ruth of Lititz, three step daughters: Teresa wife of Steve Goshorn of Manheim, Denise wife of Eric Christensen of Ephrata, Crystal wife of Jim Milliken of Lititz, seven grandchildren, six step grandchildren, three great granddaughters, two step great granddaughters, and four brothers: Ken husband of Mary Brandt of Elizabethtown, Robert husband of Judy Brandt, Marlin husband of Barb Brandt, and Phil Brandt all of Manheim. Preceding him in death is an infant son, David Brandt.
