George L. Lilley, 83, of Manheim, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, following a two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of the late Judith L. (Groff) Lilley, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage at the time of her passing on March 31, 2026.

Born in Chester, PA, he was the son of the late George and Laura (Herman) Lilley.

George was a graduate of Chichester High School, class of 1961, where he was an exceptional Track & Field athlete, setting records in high jump and pole vault. He went on to earn degrees from Franklin and Marshall College and Temple University. George then proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968. Following the military, George found employment with Armstrong World Industries in their research and development department, where he was named on several patents with the U.S. Government, retiring in 1999 with 30 years of service.

George was known to be a simple man, having a love for working on vintage mustangs. He was also an avid fan of all Philadelphia sports teams. George’s grandchildren regard him as a spectacular grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his sons, Steve Lilley, of Manheim, Bryan Lilley, fiancé of Ann Getz, of Reinholds, and Loren Lilley, of Manheim; grandchildren, Trent Lilley, husband of Brandy Lilley, Justin Lilley, Taylor Lilley, and Kayla Himelright, wife of Dante Himelright; great-granddaughters, Macie, Brynlee and Harper; and a sister, Laura Scott, of Boothwyn. In addition to his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Kevin Lilley, and a sister, Jean Elaine Lilley.
