Gary L. "Pap" Engle

Gary L. Engle, 73, of Manheim, died peacefully on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at his home. “Pap” as he was affectionally called by his grandchildren and many extended family members, cherished all the time he could spend with his family. Born in Lebanon, he was the son of the late Ernest Sr. and Nancy Leeper Engle. He was the loving husband of the late Donna Kline Engle who died in July of 2019 following 46 years of marriage. Gary worked many years in the Pre-Cast Concrete Industry; following retirement, he spent the last years helping to transport Amish Work Crews throughout the Lancaster and Lebanon areas. He was a 1969 graduate of Cedar Crest High School. He attended Hope Episcopal Church, Manheim; and enjoyed hunting, fishing, especially with his family members. He had a passion for any cars made by the Ford Motor Company; and prized his beloved 1965 Ford Mustang that he owned. He loved watching WWE Wrestling, attending car shows, or the NHRA Racing at Maple Grove Raceway.

Surviving are two daughters: Suse wife of Jason Lease Sr. of Manheim, Tam wife of Ric Bechtold III of Manheim, a son, Gary Jr. husband of Traci Engle of Sinking Spring, three grandchildren: Jason Lease Jr. “The Boy,” Sam Lease, Billie Bechtold, one great grandson, Bentlee Bechtold, one step great grandson: Jax Booz, two brothers: Chub Engle of Manheim, Bill Engle of Lebanon, two sisters: Vicki wife of Dennis Dundore of Annville, and Kathy wife of Mike Dove of Myerstown.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Gary’s funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at 11:00 AM. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM with additional viewing on Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. The family requests that everyone please dress casual for the viewing and service. Interment will be in Chiques Cemetery.
