Floyd D. Ruhl, 80, of East Earl, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 31, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Sandra L. (Ertz) Ruhl, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Paul L. and Mildred W. (Floyd) Ruhl.
Floyd was a graduate of Manheim Central High School, class of 1963. He then earned a bachelor’s degree in 1967 from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, GA, where he was a member of the Boar’s Head Fraternity, recipient of the Yamacraw Award, and Vice President of his senior class. For 27 years, Floyd was employed by Ford New Holland as a buyer. He then went on to be employed by Ryder Systems, working in logistics with Ryder clients, retiring with 14 years of service.
Upon retirement in 2009, Floyd began volunteering at Landis Valley Farm Museum in their heirloom seed program. He then broadened his involvement and also volunteered with carpentry projects, being named Volunteer of the Year in 2011. Every September for 30 plus years, he looked forward to his and Sandy’s trip to Hatteras Island with their “OBX beach crew”. Floyd was a member of Pequea Presbyterian Church where he served on session and also served as cemetery treasurer.
Services and interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
Floyd’s family extends a special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff in the ICU and PCU at WellSpan Ephrata Hospital for the excellent care they provided.
