Esther M. Gehman

August 6, 1924 — April 19, 2010

Esther M. Gehman, 85, of Landis Homes Retirement Community, Lititz, and formerly of Landisville, was called by her heavenly Father to her eternal rest on Monday, April 19, 2010. Born August 6, 1924 in East Earl, she was the daughter of the late Barton B. and Mabel Martin Gehman.

Esther was a member of the Landisville Mennonite Church where she enjoyed serving as a childrens Sunday school teacher in her earlier years. She worked at Hubbard Farms Hatchery where she retired after more than 40 years. Esther greatly enjoyed the many trips she would take with her closest friends. Upon her return home, she was always happy to share with others the pictures she would take of her new experiences. Esthers life was devoted to church, her family, and especially to her many nieces and nephews. Until recently she was a volunteer at Mennonite Central Committees Material Resource Center.

Surviving is one brother Harold M. married to Gladys Gehman of Lancaster. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother Lizzie Webber Gehman, one brother Ivan M. Gehman, and three sisters Edith Gehman, Elizabeth G. Livengood, and Ruth G. Weaver.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service from Landis Homes Retirement Community, 1001 E. Oregon Road, Lititz, WEST BETHANY CHAPEL, on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Glenn D. Metzler and Reverend Randall Shull officiating. Interment is in Weaverland Mennonite Cemetery East Earl. There will be a public viewing at Landis Homes, EAST BETHANY CHAPEL on Friday evening from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and also on Saturday at West Bethany Chapel from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service.
