Edna D. Sanko

November 24, 1947 — June 4, 2026

Manheim

Edna D. Sanko, 78, of Manheim, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Gordonville, she was the daughter of the late Leaman B. and Anna M. Work Harsh. She was the beloved wife of Maurice L. Sanko, who preceded her in death in January 2005.

For many years, Edna shared her talent and friendly spirit as a hairstylist and the owner and operator of Edna Graybeal's Beauty Shop in Manheim. More than a place to have one's hair done, her shop was a gathering place where friendships were nurtured and conversations flowed freely. She was a faithful attendee of LCBC Church, Manheim Campus.

Edna found beauty and joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved butterflies, tending her flower gardens, cooking and baking for those she loved, and was especially known for her treasured sand tart cookies. She enjoyed reading, watching home renovation programs on HGTV and rarely missed a Hallmark movie, delighting in the heartwarming stories and happy endings.

Above all, Edna's greatest happiness came from the time she spent with her family. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she cherished every opportunity to gather with them and with her many nieces and nephews. She will be remembered for her loving nature, her warm hospitality, and the countless ways she made family and friends feel welcomed, cared for, and loved.

Surviving are two sons: Jamie D. Graybeal, companion of Mindy Boyer of New Providence, Jeffrey D. husband of Jeanie Graybeal of Holtwood, two grandchildren: Tanner J. Graybeal, Katelyn R. Graybeal, and two sisters: Ruth wife of Larry McFarland of Manheim, Jeanette Stauffer of Lancaster, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are three brothers: Clarence, Samuel, Clyde, and four sisters: Elizabeth, Ellen, Ann, and Esther.

Services for Edna will be private and at the convenience of the family.
