Donald J. Unger

Donald J. “Don” Unger, 89, of Pottstown, departed this life on Friday, May 8, 2026, while under the care of Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy. He was the beloved husband of Linda Lee (Abshier) Unger, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage.

Born in Topton, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Harry and Effie (Heiser) Unger.

Don was a graduate of Kutztown High School, class of 1955. Following high school, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force and he attended college. Don went on to have a career in the aerospace industry as a Quality Control Specialist, working for General Electric Space Division and Lockheed Martin.

Don’s father operated an automotive repair business, sparking Don’s interest in cars at a young age, owning many muscle cars and classic cars over the years. He was also an accomplished coin collector and a member of a coin club. In his spare time, Don enjoyed building model rockets and launching them. To those that knew him, Don was a loving husband and he provided an adventurous upbringing for his sons.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Daniel (Ellen Long) Unger, of New Jersey, and David (Julie) Unger, of York, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Services and interment will be private.
