Donald C. “Don” Ober, 92, of Lititz, formerly of Manheim, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 5, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Marie L. (Lockard) Ober, with whom he shared 70 years of marriage.
Born in Rapho Township, he was the son of the late Menno H. and Minnie (Greiner) Ober.
Don’s first career was farming. He went on to have a career as a salesperson, first for Schutte Welding Supplies, and then for Bomberger’s Store, both in Elm and Lititz, where he retired from. In retirement, Don volunteered at the Lebanon VA Medical Center.
Don’s passion was Ford classic cars, and he was especially fond of his 1953 Ford Victoria and 1957 Ford Fairlane Retractable. He also collected Ford 8N and a few John Deere tractors. A self-proclaimed “book worm”, Don was an avid reader and enjoyed reading about World War II. He was also known to read Life Magazine and cut out articles of interest. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling with Marie, having visited all 50 states. Don was a former member of Mount Hope United Christian Church, where he taught Sunday School and he served as an usher and as treasurer, and he most recently attended Calvary Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Donna (Robert) Tice, of Lebanon, and Debra (William II) Miller, of Annville; a son, Dale (Laurie) Ober, of Manheim; ten grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. The last of his siblings, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Shank, and brothers Greiner, Clair, and Leroy Ober.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday, July 10, at Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, PA 17545, with a viewing at the funeral home from 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM. Interment will follow the service at Ruhl’s United Methodist Cemetery.
