David Wilbur “Bill” Buckwalter, 94, of Lancaster, met Jesus on Monday evening June 9, 2025. He was the husband of the late Anna Lois (Housman) Buckwalter who died in 2016. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Jay Quentin, Sr. and Alta (McDonald) Buckwalter. Bill worked most of his career as an insurance broker but also spent years as a gentleman farmer on the side. He graduated from Manheim Twp. High School, and Elizabethtown College. He attended Community Bible Church, Marietta. He loved spending time with his family, he was always there in both times of joy and times of need. He enjoyed home cooked meals, watching baseball and football, doing the NY Times cross word puzzle, and above all, bearing witness and testifying the great news of Jesus to all. He had a strong, yet gentle nature.
Surviving are daughters, Deborah Pedersen, Lancaster, Ann Longenecker, East Petersburg, Barbara, wife of Bradford Schmitt, Mount Joy; grandchildren, Sarah, Lael, Andrew, Jacob, Daniel, Emily, Nicole and Hannah; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; brothers, Harold husband of Dolores Buckwalter, Eugene, husband of Mary Ellen Buckwalter, both of Lititz, and sisters, Fran wife of Roy Sauder Lititz, Mary Lou wife of Merv Sauder and Sue Cassel, both of Manheim. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a son, Donald Buckwalter, a grandson, Gregory Schmitt, and a great-granddaughter, Evelyn Louise Miller.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his graveside service at East Petersburg Mennonite Cemetery, 6279 Main Street, East Petersburg, on Friday, June 13, 2025 at 2:00 P.M.
