Betty Arlene Stauffer

March 14, 1925 — February 29, 2024

Lancaster

Betty Arlene Stauffer, 98, of Lancaster, and formerly of Landisville, passed on to her heavenly home on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at the Mennonite Home.  Born in Landis Valley, she was the daughter of the late David S. and Lizzie Eichelberger Bender. She was the wife of the late J. Melvin Stauffer who died in July of 1993. Betty worked as a seamstress for the former B & J Manufacturers in Lancaster Junction, and then worked for Clean Enterprises in Landisville. She was last employed as a waitress for Benders Restaurant in Salunga. Betty was a member of Landisville Church of God, former choir member; and was active with the Leisure Club, Golden Years Club in Landisville, and the Red Rose Snowmobile club in her early years. 

   Betty was well known in the Lancaster County Area for her Doll Making, she made life size Raggedy Anne and Andy Dolls, Amish Dolls, and Bears that were sold at Community Creations, Lancaster. She enjoyed flower gardening, and had her bear, Barney with her which the Mennonite Home staff loved as well. 

  Surviving are two daughters: Nancy L. Fuhrman of Coatesville, Phyllis S. wife of Michael Schmit of San Jose, CA, seven grandchildren, one great granddaughter, a sister, Ruth Anne Ginder of Landisville, a daughter-in-law, Shelley Stauffer of Kentucky and nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death is a son, J. Mervin Stauffer, and two daughters: Carolyn and Barbara Ann.  

  A special thank you to the Mennonite Home Staff for the many good years of care given to Betty. She enjoyed her home there and often said “ I’ve been so blessed. Thank You ! and also to my Care Giver Mim Leaman. “ 

  Services for Betty will be private and at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Landisville Mennonite Cemetery.
