Betty J. Boas, 101, of Lititz, died peacefully on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at United Zion Retirement Community. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late William and Anna Leibler Fisher. Betty was a hard worker and worked much of her life. She was employed by Hamilton Watch, Black & Decker and other manufacturing companies in Lancaster County. She was diligent in the workplace, and as one who oversaw others, able to motivate people to give their best too.
She was a member of Calvary Church, Lancaster. Loving the Lord was everything to her. She was passionate about reading her Bible and encouraging others to do the same. She would share verses with family and friends to remind them of how much Jesus loved them.
Betty is survived by a loving daughter, Andrea M. Bomberger of Lititz, 19 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 25 great-great-grandchildren a beautiful mix of both biological and many adopted children. Preceding her in death was another loving daughter, Peggy A. Newborg, a great-granddaughter, Kylie, two sons-in-law, two brothers, and two sisters.
Anyone who knew Betty knew a generous person. She never had a lot materially, but she gave what she had. From ceaseless prayers to making red beet eggs and pumpkin pies for her grands and great-grands, she loved God and loved people. She particularly enjoyed visits and always made sure you were comfortable and taken care of in the little home she cherished. Betty had a knack for stirring up the atmosphere. She was feisty, liked to wrestle, and enjoyed eliciting reactions to her ‘shock and awe’ personality. Whether she was dumping out clothes from a dresser drawer (to teach neatness to her grandchildren), playfully singing “A Bushel and a Peck” or “You Are My Sunshine”, or saying something mildly inappropriate, Betty was an unforgettable character. In her last weeks on this side of Heaven, Betty was surrounded by family daily who enjoyed spending time with her, sang hymns, and recalled the goodness of the Lord in her life.
Betty J. Boas will be missed. Memories of her will forever bring smiles and lots of laughter. Heaven definitely gained a handful.
Services for Betty will be private and at the convenience of the family.
