Bertha “Bert” Breneman, 95, of Lititz, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at United Zion Retirement Community, surrounded by the love and memories of a life well lived.
Born in Martindale, she was the daughter of the late Amos and Bertha Nolt Redcay. Bert shared 40 devoted years of marriage with her beloved husband, LeRoy W. Breneman, until his passing in 1993. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work.
A true farm wife and partner, Bert worked side by side with LeRoy and their children on the family farm. She took great pride in caring for her family, creating a warm and welcoming home where everyone felt loved. For more than 40 years, she also worked in food service at the Manheim Auto Auction, where her strong work ethic and friendly spirit touched many lives.
Faith was an important part of Bert’s life. In her younger years, she was a member of Calvary Church in Lancaster, where she volunteered at the annual Missionary Conference and generously gave her time at Calvary Homes. Later, she became a member of Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church in Lititz.
Bert found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved tending to her flower gardens, listening to Bluegrass music, and preparing delicious homemade meals from scratch that brought family and friends together around the table. She also enjoyed traveling, taking numerous bus trips and ocean cruises, and creating treasured memories at her favorite beaches and island destinations.
More than anything, Bert cherished her family. The greatest joy of her life was the time she spent with her beloved granddaughter, Nicole, whose presence brought endless happiness and pride.
She is survived by her sons, Kenneth L. Breneman and his wife, Vikki, and Steven D. Breneman and his wife, Mary; her daughter, Sandra J. Breneman; her adopted daughter, Ann Calvillo, all of Lititz; her cherished granddaughter, Nicole Breneman, fiancée of Joseph Kiely of Manheim; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Bert will also be deeply missed by her faithful grand-dog, Charlie, and the many grand-cats she adored.
One of sixteen children, Bert valued the bonds she shared with her large family throughout her life. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters and eleven brothers.
Bert’s kindness, strength, faith, and unwavering love for her family will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. “Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of your lord.” — Matthew 25:23
