Augustus L. “Gus” Rineer Jr. 83, of East Petersburg, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Landis Homes Retirement Community. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Augustus L. Sr., and Ethelyn Beamsderfer Rineer. Gus was the loving husband of Shara L. Byers Rineer. Gus and Shara observed their 61st Wedding Anniversary July 1st. In 1988 Gus retired from Caterpillar Company, York, following 23 years of employment. A humble veteran, Gus served in the United States Army. He was a faithful member of Calvary Church, Lancaster. Throughout his life he had a deep and loving passion for his family. Gus cherished all the time he could spend with his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends. His deep faith in Jesus impacted all of those who knew him.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Shara, are two daughters: Wendy L. wife of Kevin Harley of East Petersburg, Kimberly S. wife of Mark Metzler of Manheim, eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, two brothers: James R. husband of Christine Rineer of Mechanicsburg, Daniel J. husband of Maggie Rineer of Lancaster, and a sister, Susan wife of James Doll of Mount Airy, MD.
