Alice Marianne Deaner

February 6, 1942 — November 21, 2025

  1.     Alice Marianne Deaner, 83, of Millersville, beloved wife, mother, grandmother; died peacefully on Friday, November 21,2025 at Newport Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Christiana. Born in Terre Hill, she was the daughter of the late Mark C. and June Horst Redcay. She was the loving wife of the late John M. “Jack” Deaner who died in November of 2011 following 48 years of marriage. It was said that Marianne and Jack met on a blind date set up by Jack’s sister and went to see a Big Band. They danced together throughout the night and their hearts were set, with beautiful years ahead of them.

  3.   Marianne was a 1960 graduate of Garden Sport High School. In her early years Marriane worked for Armstrong World Industries as a Key Punch Operator. She then was employed as a sale’s representative for the former Watt & Shand Department Store, Lancaster, and Rhodes Pharmacy, Millersville. She was an active and faithful member of The Church of the Apostles UCC, Lancaster, where she was a member of the choir, and previously was a member of Zion UCC Choir, Millersville. Marianne had a passion for music, she was an accomplished pianist, loved to sing, an avid reader, and was a member of the Music Arts Society of Lancaster. She was also a member of VFW Post 7294 Auxiliary. Marianne was devoted to church, faith, and family. A true humble servant, Marianne extended her heart to family and friends through her acts of kindness; and the notes she wrote of encouragement, always wanting to share and give of herself to help others. She will be missed deeply by everyone who knew her.


Surviving is a daughter, Elizabeth M. “Beth” wife of Keith A. Hershey of Conestoga, two granddaughters: Samantha Hershey, Cadi wife of Jonathan Eshbach, a great grandson, Tyler Eshbach, a brother, Mark Robin husband of Betty Jane Redcay of Tuscan, AZ, a sister, Rebecca wife of Rick Myers of New Holland, and a brother-in-law, Delores Earl Hernandez of East Petersburg. Preceding her in death is a sister, Jennifer Hernandez, and a stepmother, Adele Redcay.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Marianne’s Memorial Service at the Church of the Apostles UCC, 1850 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster, on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 11:30 AM. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Saturday morning from 10:30 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be private in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Marianne’s memory to: Church of the Apostles UCC, 1850 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17603, or American Cancer Society, P.O.
