Alan M. Keating

Alan M. “Al” Keating, 82, of Manheim, passed away naturally at home on Monday, August 31, 2026 at 3 hrs. & 55 minutes left in the evening to join his wife in heaven to celebrate their 51st wedding anniversary. Born in Oil City, he was the son of the late Lawrence L. and Dorthea Myers Keating. He was the loving husband of the late Ruthanne Pietsch Keating who passed away in 2025. Al proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.

Irish Al had a passion for Irish Football. He enjoyed golfing with his friends in Myrtle Beach, clay bird shooting at the Elstonville Sportsman Assn, where he was a lifetime member. Earlier in life he enjoyed fishing, boating and water skiing on the Chesapeake Bay in Red Pt., MD.

Al retired from the former RCA/Burle, Lancaster and after retirement he worked part-time for Manheim Specialty Machines. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post# 5956 and Germania Band Club, all of Manheim

Al lived life to the fullest, never missing an opportunity to engage with others. He devoted 36 years of his time to the Manheim Sertoma. He was awarded the Service to Mankind Award in 2015. Al was a man of service and humanity. His favorite phrase was “because nice matters”

Surviving is a daughter, Penny L. Falcon of Willow Street, a son, Joseph A. Keating of Manheim, and three grandchildren, Todd M. husband of Brianne High, Tara L. Falcon, Braiden S. Keating and two nieces, Dori Shetter and Dana Cunningham. He was preceded in death by two brothers, David L. and Lawrence L. Keating.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Alan’s Memorial Service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim on Friday, September 11, 2026 at 10:00 AM. Friends may visit with the family from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may send contributions in Alan’s memory to Manheim Sertoma Club, PO Box 214, Manheim, PA 17545.
