William Eugene Walters

December 24, 1927 — July 25, 2017

Rev. William E. “Bill” Walters, 89, went home to be with his Lord & Savior July 25, 2017 at Brethren Village, Lancaster, where he and his wife were residents for the last 15 years. He was the husband of Dorothy M. (Shearer) Walters, and they would have celebrated 70 years of marriage in November. Born in Maytown he was the son of the late Earl B. and Hallie (Givens) Walters.

“Pastor Bill” as he was affectionately known was elected into the ministry in 1953 at the Florin Church of the Brethren. He was a pastor in Ohio for 27 years and served has a pastor in Shippensburg for 5 years before retiring in 1987. Pastor Bill and his wife are members of the Hempfield Church of the Brethren in East Petersburg. Pastor Bill and his wife Dorothy enjoyed traveling using their motor home to visit many memorable locations.

Surviving are two sons Thomas E. Sr. husband of Theresa Walters, Kenneth L. Walters, both of Massillon OH; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister Mildred Jamison, Elizabethtown. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Eileen Nissley.

AT Bill’s request services and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
