Verna G. Edris Eshleman

February 8, 1930 — December 17, 2012

Verna G. Edris Bruckhart Eshleman, 82, formerly of Manheim, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday December 17, 2012 at Brethren Village, Lancaster. Born in Bareville, she was the daughter of the late Noah M. and Laura B. Graybill Hess. Verna was the wife of the late Kenneth Eshleman. She was also preceded in death by her second husband, the late Paul Bruckhart and her first husband, the late Kenneth B. Edris. Verna was one of the first employees at Sight & Sound Theatre Lancaster and worked many years in the administrative area; previously she was employed at the Manheim Auto Auction; and also worked for Grant Heilman Photography, Lititz. Verna had a servant's heart and lived a life of service for others. She was an active and faithful member of the East Fairview Church of the Brethren, Manheim where she served many years as Sunday School teacher, Deaconess, on numerous Commissions and was the first female Chairperson of the Church Board. Verna also was involved with Brethren Disaster Relief. She volunteered with Water Street Ministries and Heifer International. Her interests included: travel, trips to the shore, outdoors, gardening, crafts, and cooking for her family. Surviving is a daughter, Linda L wife of Glenn Laverty Jr. of Mt Holly Springs, a son, Steven L. husband of Marilyn (Hoffer) Edris of Manheim, four grandchildren: Jennifer wife of Craig Mummert, Justin husband of Jennifer Edris, Austin husband of Allison Edris, and Alyssa Edris, four great grandchildren, one brother, Clarence Hess of Myerstown, two sisters: Alta Patches of Lebanon, and Marian wife of Ivan Wenger of Beavertown, twelve step children, and many step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, and step great great grandchildren. Preceding her in death in addition to her husbands; is a stepson, J. Robert Bruckhart. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Verna's service of remembrance and life celebration at the Brethren Village Chapel 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Heidelberg Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Myerstown. Friends may visit with the family at the Brethren Village Chapel on Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent in Verna's memory to the Brethren Village Good Samaritan Fund 3001 Lititz Pike, P. O. Box 5093 Lancaster, PA 17606.
