Thomas P. "Tom" Lacek Jr.

Thomas P. “Tom” Lacek Jr., 66, of Manheim passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 1, 2019. Born in White Haven, he was the son of Thomas P. Lacek Sr. of Tamaqua and the late Clara Koblish Lacek. He was the loving husband of Barbara Kester Lacek and they celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary this past November. Retired in 2018, Tom worked thirty years at Robson Forensic, Inc., Lancaster. He graduated from Penn State University in 1974 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Along with his 3 children, he was part of the Order of the Engineer, inducted with his daughter before her college graduation. Tom was a Licensed Professional Engineer, a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers and the Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine, and the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying, PA and Level 1 National Association of Amusement Ride Safety Officials Certified Amusement Ride Inspector. Tom was a member of St. Richard Catholic Church, Manheim.

Tom worked his way through college at a Dodge dealership, and restored antique and muscle cars as his hobby, including a ’56 Packard Caribbean, ‘70 Dodge Polara, ’70 Charger and a ’56 Packard Patrician. Family time with his children was the center of his life. He also enjoyed scuba diving with his children and was a 3rd Degree Black Belt in World Tang Soo Do.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Tommy Lacek of Downingtown, Joe Lacek of Pittsburgh, Rachel Lacek of Manheim, and siblings Tim Lacek, New Tripoli, Mary Lou Lacek Alden, Tolland, CT and Melissa Krechel, Fawn Grove.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Richard Catholic Church, 110 North Oak Street, Manheim on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Father Stephen D. Weitzel as celebrant. There will be a viewing at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim on Friday evening from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM and again at the church on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may send contributions in Tom’s Memory to Hospice & Community Care, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
