Sylvia E. Parks

September 2, 1934 — December 6, 2018

Sylvia E. Parks, 84, of Elizabethtown passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown. Born in Upper Darby, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Lee and Elsa L. (Russ) Lee Weygand. She was the beloved and cherished wife of Richard E. Parks. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in May and had a marriage that defined what true, unconditional love is. Anyone who was blessed to witness their pure, unfiltered and endless love has a gift that will last a lifetime. Sylvia would say regularly how lucky she was to have met the most wonderful man, provider and “nicest guy” - her dearest. The love affair of all times started a family of three children to whom Sylvia devoted her every waking moment. She was the true definition of a mother and grandmother: loving, passionate, steadfast and fiercely protective. Family was the pulse of Sylvia and she carried her unbridled love through to her never-ending appreciation of her late “Mama”, her cherished sister, Elsa and her beautiful nieces and nephews. She was a second mom to many in the family - another role she ferociously took on. It is hard to describe this loss to her loved ones as she was truly a one-of-a-kind woman. Her strength, passion, values, integrity and traditions will be carried on and we are all so grateful for what she has showed and taught us.

Surviving in addition to her husband are three children, Stephen Parks (Ellen) of Austin, TX, Kenneth Parks of Bedford, NY and Janet Shapiro (Paul) of Yardley, seven grandchildren (Andrew, Elizabeth, Meredith, Grant, Jonathan, Matthew and Abigail) and her sister, Elsa Dash of Hatboro. She was preceded in death by her mother, Elsa Lee Weygand and her brother, Walter Lee.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her celebration of life service at the Sell Chapel at Masonic Village, One Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown on Monday, December 17, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private in Forest Hills Cemetery, Huntingdon Valley. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may send contributions in Sylvia’s memory to Masonic Charities, Gift Planning Office, One Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 who helped both Richard and Sylvia in their time of need.
