Ruth B. Miller

April 13, 1925 — April 4, 2015

On Saturday, April 4, 2015, Ruth B. Miller, 89, of Brethren Village Retirement Community; and formerly of Manheim, left this world for a Heavenly Home where no pain or disability exists. Born in Manheim, she was the daughter of the late Samuel G. and Nora F. Miller Baker. Ruth was the wife of the late J. Harlan Miller who died in August of 2010. In 1942 she graduated with honors from the former East Hempfield High School and attended evening classes at Lancaster Bible College for five years. In her early years she worked as a bookkeeper and title clerk for various auto dealers in Lancaster County as well as serving as a Notary Public for twenty years. She also was employed in the office at Queen Dairy and Lancaster Surgical Supply Co. Ruth was a member of the White Oak Church of the Brethren, Manheim, where she taught Sunday school for 25 years. She had a life-long passion of serving others and was an active volunteer at the former Elizabethtown Children’s Hospital, Manheim Community Library, Oasis Youth Services, Manheim, the former Community Hospital of Lancaster, and Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center. Her interests included reading, Bible studies, singing, and participating in the choir at Brethren Village.

Surviving are two daughters: Joanne Priest of Waynesboro, Carol Michener-Crossett wife of Robert Crossett of Doylestown, eight grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, and a brother, S. Claude husband of Jane Baker of Lancaster. Preceding her in death is a sister, Grace Baker, and a son-in-law, George Priest.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at the White Oak Church of the Brethren, 1211 North Penryn Road, Manheim, on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 10:30 AM. There will be a viewing at the church on Wednesday evening from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM with additional viewing time on Thursday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Graybills Brethren Cemetery, Elm.
