Russell L. Gainer

November 26, 1931 — February 2, 2011

Russell L. Gainer, 79, formerly of Manheim, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at the Lancaster Regional Medical Center.

Born in Manheim, he was the son of the late Clarence E. Gainer and the late Mary Fauby Gainer Ginder; and step son of the late M. Webb Ginder. Russell retired in 1993 where he was employed by both the Warwick and the Manheim Central School Districts in the maintenance department; prior to this he served in the United States Army for over twenty-one years. He was a life time member of the Manheim VFW Post 5956 and the Disabled American Veterans.
Surviving are four brothers: Melvin F. husband of Lanna Gainer of Manheim, Charles E. husband of Elizabeth Gainer of Rexmont, Wendell S. husband of Dolly Gainer of Lititz, Gene R. husband of Dolly Gainer of Dalton, N.H., three sisters: E. Lucille Haldeman, Sandra A. wife of Wayne Elliott, Rebecca J Donlin all of Lititz, two step sisters: Shirley A. Stewart of Landisville, Linda wife of James Gibble of Elizabethtown and many nieces and nephews. He will be lovingly missed by special friends: Donna Kurtz and Justyn Kurtz. Preceding him in death are three sisters: Thomasena Grossman, Grace Gainer, Constance Wise, and a brother, Wayne Gainer. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home 21 Market Square, Manheim on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 10:30 AM. Interment is in Hernley Mennonite Cemetery, Rapho Township. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Monday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.
